Humanization of the criminal enforcement legislation of Ukraine
As part of the study, we estimated the cost of keeping one person in pretrial detention and compared it with standards in European countries. To do this, we gained access to all documents related to the financial costs of keeping prisoners.
The study was of practical importance to the Ministry, as it allowed it to assess how well the current system meets international standards and what could be changed to improve it. Particular attention was paid to communication with the Penitentiary Service and analysis of the financial component of keeping prisoners.
