Media and elections: implementing democratic principles in covering the election process
In 2004–2005, a study was conducted on the role of the media during election campaigns, in particular the 2004 presidential election. The aim of the project was to study how the media should work in an election environment, as well as to determine the impact of dirty election technologies on the electoral process.
The study included sociological analysis and legal review to assess the practical and legal aspects of media activities during the campaign. In addition, a series of workshops were held with journalists to discuss media standards during elections and to improve their professional training.
The project provided a deeper understanding of the role of the media in the electoral process and provided practical recommendations for journalists on ethical and legal work during election campaigns.
